Cars & Conversation at The Hangars
On the vibrant morning of Memorial Day Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, The Hangars by Crownair Aviation Event Venue in San Diego transformed into a haven for air-cooled Porsche enthusiasts as the PCA San Diego Region hosted a special air-cooled only “Cars & Conversations” event. This gathering brought together 139 iconic air-cooled Porsches, showcasing the timeless engineering and design of these beloved machines against the unique aviation-inspired backdrop of The Hangars by Crownair Aviation Event Venue.

The hardest part was deciding to sell. As many know, one can form an emotional attachment to a Porsche. You don’t just think of it as a machine, a tool. But I wasn’t driving it much anymore. It was initially purchased as an autocross car to run with my daughter, Katie, when she moved home from college. But life moves on. Katie met a young man, fell in love, got married, and moved away to have kids and build a life of her own. Once she left, my priorities changed as well.
Zone 8 Concours Banquet
I had the honor recently to be presented with the 2024 Zone 8 Concours, 1st in Class Award, at a luncheon in Huntington Beach. It was the culmination of a year long effort campaigning our 2015 Mahogany Metallic Cayman S at several region-level concours events.
A “Roaring” Cheer for our Volunteers
In November, the board hosted the annual celebration of the PCA-SDR volunteers at Lions, Tigers & Bears. The 146-acre facility near Alpine is home to more than 60 animals rescued from across the U.S., and one of a small number of accredited exotic animal sanctuaries in the country.
